A disappointing afternoon for WRYFC U14 as we went down to our first defeat of the season to a strong Hampton side. It started off as well as it could with Scott bursting down the right hand side and putting a very good, hard and low ball across the box where Jess was storming in at the back post to slot home his first goal of the season after 2 minutes. Not long after, Charlie was bought down about 30 yards from goal. Luke stepped up and hit a cracker of a shot which flew over the keeper to make it 0-2. Just before half time Hampton managed to pull one back and undeservingly went into the half time break at 1-2. They hit us with everything they had in the second half and unfortunately we had no reply. On a big pitch and against a very physical team, gaps slowly started appearing and the home side managed to score a further 3 goals to seal their victory.
I could see the boys gave their all on the pitch, but have to accept that they were second best today and hopefully come back stronger next week and get our season back on track.
A bitter sweet day for Josh Young though as some strong, well timed tackles and good defensive positioning kept their left winger very quiet and earns him today's man of the match award. Well done Josh.

Good effort to the whole team today, one bad half since the start of the season shouldn't be pondered on for too long, so heads up have a good week and let's reset and go again next week.
