After a disappointing start to the season last week, Wareham Rangers U12’s bounced back with a convincing home win against Corfe Mullen United Juniors. Early Wareham pressure was rewarded with a well-struck goal by Joe. Solid defending by Gabe, Ethan, Alfie and Luke gave Wareham the confidence to press forward with Dannon, Harry, Nathan and James all going close after creative inter-passing play. A silky run out of defence by Luke and a series of passes ended with Harry unleashing an unstoppable shot to make it 2-0. Christian quickly made his presence felt, burying the third goal after Corfe Mullen failed to clear their lines.

The second half saw Wareham continue to pressure Corfe Mullen with an excellent pass from Luke resulting in Christian’s second goal. On the right side, Samuel and George combined well and Callum brought an exciting injection of pace up front. A corner from Joe was possibly going straight in but was helped on its way by the Corfe Mullen goalie. Gabe kept his nerve for a Corfe Mullen penalty and dealt with the ball after it hit the bar. A shot by James which hit the underside of the bar and came out would have benefitted from goal-line technology! Wareham relaxed towards the end of the game and a rare defensive lapse resulted in a breakaway goal to Corfe Mullen, resulting in a final score of 5-1.

Both teams showed good sporting spirit; thanks to the Referee and Linesmen.
